Shrimp And Grits Recipe | 15 Minute – 30 Minute Quick Recipe

I cannot speak for everyone else, but speaking for myself. Shrimp And Grits has got to be the best anytime meal hands down. It is great for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner, if prepared properly. Shrimp & Grits Recipe


1 Ilb of Peeled & Deveined Shrimp (Save Shrimp Shells)

2 Springs Of Parsley

Seasoning Of Your Choice (Lawry’s, Old Bay, Adobo, Garlic Powder, Paprika, Ground Black Pepper, etc)

1 Teaspoon Of Crushed Peppers

2 Diced Garlic Cloves

1 Lemon Halved

I Cup Of Quick Grits

1 Tablespoon Of Butter

1 Tablespoon Of Salt

1 Tablespoon Of Pepper

1/2 Cup Of flour

After you clean your shrimp, squeeze lemon juice from half of the lemon on your shrimp. Wash and then squeeze the remaining half of lemon on shrimp (do not rinse) Season shrimp with seasoning of your choice, then sit to the side for 30 mins to an hour. In the meantime, take reserved shrimp shells and cook to a rolling boil. Once they have boiled, strain the water, reserve and toss the shells. You will use this water to make a roux for your shrimp.

Take another pot and full with about 2 cups of water to cook your cook grits. Follow the directions on the package, and add salt and pepper to taste. Once cooked add the tablespoon of butter.

Once your shrimp has sat for the time allowed, use either 1 teaspoon of butter, or a teaspoon of olive oil. Toss in diced garlic cloves and cook for about 5 seconds, then toss in crushed pepper. Cook for about 5 more seconds and then toss in shrimp. Cook shrimp until it is no longer opaque, and a solid white. In a seperate pot take your flour and brown it. Now be careful with this part, it is very easy to burn flour if you do not pay attention. Toss your flour until it reaches a medium brown. Once the flour reaches a medium brown, take your reserve shell water and add it into your flour slowly. Don’t add too much as you want your flour mixture to thick up a bit. Once the roux reaches a nice gravy thickness add your shrimp and parsley.
